About Ellie
My mother once asked me, “Ellie, would you rather be hungry or full?” I responded in true 7 year old earnest, “I would rather be eating!”
I write about food because I love it. I will try everything: Moroccan Tagines, sheep brains, a delicious oyster or a great turkey sandwich. I even ate sand once, but that was an experiment. When I was 15, I dove head long into the kitchen upon returning from a semester in Switzerland. The dorm food was miserable, but the adventures were worth it. Baguettes in France and Pesto in Italy and lamb in Geneva. I was inspired, and I had time on my hands.
Eventually I worked my way in to a French Kitchen in St. Paul and made omelets for hours. Not so glamorous but who doesn’t love to sweat in an all male kitchen listening to heavy metal at 8am during the summer?
I am currently living and working in Madison Wisconsin, where during the the summer, I spend extravagant amounts of money at the Dane County Farmers Market, and in the winter, live of luscious cheeses, sourdough bread and the meat from the quarter cow i purchased….after all, this is farm country. I work, sleep, eat, cook, read, run, and write. It’s not a bad life.
Feel free to drop me a line, I would love to hear from you.

I was just catching up on your entries, I kind of fell behind. They look and sound great…made me hungry. Tonight the Oscars, 15 people and a little party, the only thing missing is you. Love. me

P.S. Egypt!?
Love your blog — the writing and the design. Wish I could transplant you to my miniscule kitchen…
